I have moved into the 21rst century and recently bought a fancy lcd tv now that the price point on full HD (1080p) Televisions has gotten quite reasonable.

I bought this one: Samsun-LN-S4095D

It's pretty sweet for sure. One issue is that it does not do 1:1 pixel mapping out of the box. It overscan's by about 2% which is a bit annoying when using it as a monitor as the mouse will disappear off the edge of the screen. The over scan may cause some graphical artifacts as well, the good people over at http://www.avsforum.com would probably know more.
Hope is not lost though, a new firmware update from Samsung is available that introduces a viewing mode called 'JustScan' which does do 1:1 pixel mapping. Just call up 1-800-SAMSUNG (press 4, 1, 1 to get to the appropriate customer service reps) and explain the problem with no having 1:1 pixel mapping and they should be able to send a tech out to upgrade the firmware in your tv.

The TV's power usage can range from fairly high to low depending on what energy saver setting you have it on. As shown here:

Medium145 Watts
